Your Morning Texan

Fast food a luxury item? Hollywood actor supports Trump and more!

Good morning to all. There was no newsletter yesterday due to crazy winds in North Texas which knocked out the internet for some time. Here are a few stories for you:

Gov. Greg Abbott comes out victorious in his push to primary GOP members who opposed school choice in Texas:

Ahh such a isn’t it refreshing to see when there is a Hollywood actor who publicly goes against the grain and comes out in support of Trump? Actor Dennis Quaid seems to have some common sense.

Quaid was a guest on Piers Morgan and said he is voting for Trump, because it just makes sense. On the surface he is not wrong. Inflation was low under Trump, high under Biden, border secure under Trump, border is a mess under Biden. But when you take a look at all of these cases against the 45th president heading into the election, it is clear our government has been weaponized to go after a political opponent. Which is terrifying and it appears Quaid is worried about what could happen to not only to Trump, but any Republican the left fears who comes after Trump, you or myself. Check out what the actor says below:

Nearly 80% of Americans according to a recent survey, now see fast food as a luxury item due to rising costs. Say what?! Fast food was never meant to be seen as a “luxury” item. In my view, a luxury item would be going to a high end restaurant you don’t normally go to, maybe treating yourself to that new cocktail you saw advertised last week but fast food?

Quick story, I don’t eat McDonald’s much and can count on one hand the amount of times I do in a year. Recently I had a craving for a McDouble and McChicken. So after a night out with the wife, we decided to stop at a local McDonald’s on the way home. Now, it had been so long since I ordered anything from there that my mind was still stuck on those pre-Biden prices, $4 max for a McDouble and a couple of McChicken’s. WRONG! The new cost for those items are about $7-8. It hit me that the days of a $1 price tag for a decent item are gone and that Americans are not only feeling pain at the pump, grocery store or a dine-in restaurant, but also at the fast food line.

While I knew inflation is high across the board, because I do buy gas and groceries, there was something different about seeing items you once bought for $1-1.50 jump 100% years after you last purchased it. Makes sense?

Check out this terrifying moment in Jackson, MS. A family was carjacked at gunpoint in front of their home. Be aware of your surroundings because this can happen to anyone, now granted, this did happen in Jackson, Mississippi, not exactly known for being a safe haven from thugs. Good news is, Jackson has seen a drop in homicides for 2 straight years as the governor is working to crack down on crime in the city.
